Beautiful Busayo

Oluwabusayo TiOluwani Amodu was born on Wednesday 25 November 2009, at Queen Elizabeth Hospital London, 4 days after our 11th wedding anniversary. The labour went well but Busayo just could not breath. We thought it was something minor as the pregnancy went very well without any complications at any point in time. She was given oxygen immediately after the birth and taken to the neo natal unit for observation. The following day, her condition became worse and she was transferred to the Royal London Hospital at White Chapel, London. She was ventilated repeatedly until the 24th of Dec ember when she was taken off the ventilator and put on CPAP. On the 31 December, she was transferred back to Queen Elizabeth on CPAP. Her condition improved and was taken off CPAP. She was placed on nasal oxygen. On Tuesday 12 January, her condition changed. She kept desaturating . By Wednesday she took a turn for the worse. On Thursday 14 January, she was transferred to St Thomas Hospital, Westminster. She was on the ventilator until Sunday 07 February. She got the best of care but died on Friday 12 February. You came into our lives briefly. We loved and adored you. Right from when you were in the womb, we gave you your names: Oluwabusayo: God has added more to our joy, TiOluwani: One who belongs to the Lord. When you came out, dad said the first thing that came to his mind was how beautiful you were. You were beautiful to the end. You brought joy, love, happiness and sunshine but they were shortlived as we never took you home. You just couldn't breathe. All efforts to make you live proved abortive. You got the best of care at Royal London Hospital, Whitechapel and St Thomas Hospital, Westminster Bridge, London but you did not pull through. Those 80 days you lived will stay in our memories forever. Love Kunle, Wumi and Fisayo Amodu (Dad, Mum and Sister)
